Mary Hughes created Mary’s Futons more than 40 years ago. She worked out of her garage, laboriously hand-making each futon: the first cut of the fabric casing, laying out the cotton batting, hand-sewing the seam on the back, right down to the last tuft hand tied.
Mary’s brand is an extension of herself. Her philosophy is to provide good quality at a good value… in an inviting environment. Honoring her brand comes before making a sale. “My business concept has always been to give you the same deal I gave the person before you. That way, everyone gets the same ‘Best I can do’. It is simple, it is fair and it works.”

Something about Mary:
Mary Hughes has lived in Marin most of her life. Her hobbies include raising orchids and singing. She has sung with The Mayflower Chorus (1983-1999) and currently sings with Singers Marin. She has an extensive collection of Coca Cola memorabilia, and over the years, friends and customers have brought her things from all over the world. You can see some of the collection displayed at the store. Mary has supported numerous community groups and organizations. See the complete list below.
